Yelp names 3 DC-area restaurants to ‘Top 100 Places to Eat’ list

Tired of cooking at home now that we’re almost a year into the pandemic? Dying to travel again and try out other cities’ dining hot spots?

If you answered yes to both, then Yelp’s “Top 100 Places to Eat in 2021” might be a welcome guide to food beyond your kitchen.

The list includes two restaurants in the District — Heat Da Spot, an Ethiopian and breakfast place on Georgia Avenue NW, came it at No. 4, while Erik Bruner-Yang’s ABC Pony in Navy Yard landed at No. 83. In Virginia, Centreville restaurant Manna Bistro & Bakery, also an Ethiopian spot, landed at No. 39.

Baltimore Vietnamese restaurant Pho Bac is the only Maryland restaurant to make the list, coming in at No. 56.

The No. 1 restaurant on the list is just over in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Kelley Farm Kitchen has wowed diners with its vegan food. Yelp says the woman-owned restaurant’s high ranking showed the interest in both vegan food nationally as well as women-owned businesses.

Milt Peterson, legendary Greater Washington developer, has died

Milt Peterson, the legendary Greater Washington developer behind the likes of Fair Lakes, Burke Centre, National Harbor and downtown Silver Spring, has died. He was 85. The founder of the Peterson Cos., likely to sit on the Mount Rushmore of D.C.-area real estate icons, passed away Wednesday morning of natural causes at his home, surrounded by family, a spokeswoman for the Fair Lakes-based real estate company said.
