Former one-time Republican candidate for president and former pizza restaurant CEO Herman Cain has died following a battle with the coronavirus, according to a statement on his website.
He was 74.
“We’re heartbroken, and the world is poorer: Herman Cain has gone to be with the Lord,” the statement said.
Cain, the ex-CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and 2012 GOP presidential candidate, was being treated for the coronavirus after attending attending President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, although it wasn’t clear how he contracted the virus.
Herman Cain was a co-chair for Black Voices for Trump.
