One of D.C.’s most expensive homes is off the market, finally.
The estate at 1607 28th St. NW in Georgetown has sold to Evermay Georgetown LLC for $12 million, according to D.C.’s Recorder of Deeds. That is the same LLC that owns Evermay, the neighboring Georgetown estate acquired by Sachiko Kuno and Ryuji Ueno, the then-married founders of Sucampo Pharmaceuticals Inc. and S&R Foundation, in 2011 for $22 million. They have since divorced.
The foundation also owns the Halcyon House at 3400 Prospect St. NW, which serves as home to the Halcyon nonprofit, and the former Fillmore School at 1801 35th St. NW.
All told, between the residential and foundation properties, entities tied to the Sucampo founders have spent at least $61.5 million on Georgetown real estate since 2011. That’s more than double what Amazon.com Inc. CEO Jeff Bezos spent to buy the former Textile Museum and his newest acquisition, 2325 S St. NW, across the street.
