The next big development on the St. Elizabeths East campus will ease the way for all the projects to follow.
It’s a $21 million parking garage.
The D.C. Department of General Services is seeking contractors to build the 800-space garage, to include roughly 120 electric vehicle charging stations that will be brought online over time as demand increases, on Parcel 6 of the District-owned campus, at the corner of Cypress Street and a temporary extension of 13th Street SE. Bids are due by Jan. 10.
The garage emerges from a 2017 parking master plan study conducted by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. The study identified a large parking deficit, especially when large events are held at the Entertainment and Sports Arena simultaneous with an event at the St. E’s Gateway Pavilion.
