The National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony was Thursday night.

Traffic headaches and road closures aside, thousands of revelers enjoyed a night filled with music before President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump flipped the switch on the lights.

Performers included Jessie James Decker, Spensha Baker, Colton Dixon and Chevel Shepherd, plus the United States Marine Band and Max Impact, the Air Force’s rock band.

It was the first year the current 30-foot Colorado blue spruce was in place on the Ellipse. The previous tree had been in place for about seven years before being replaced.
