The World Series champions the Washington Nationals got a hero’s welcome when they arrived at Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Thursday.
As the plane carrying the team taxied on the runway, two fire trucks gave them a water salute befitting the winners.
When the airplane’s door opened, the Nationals flag was unfurled and Ryan Zimmerman stepped out hoisting the Commissioner’s Trophy over his head to the cheers of fans and airport staff.
Gerardo Parra waved to reporters and airport staff, and no one could miss Sean Doolittle with his neon blue light saber.
While the team was on the plane, their friends and family tweeted photos of some of the team holding the World Series trophy on their laps, including Max Scherzer and Ryan Zimmerman.
