WATCH: Second day of Barr confirmation hearing

WASHINGTON – The Senate confirmation hearing continues Wednesday for President Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general, William Barr.

On the first day of his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Barr faced questions on Robert Mueller’s investigation and a memo he wrote prior to his nomination. As the hearing goes into a second day, the committee is expecting to hear from character witnesses, including former Attorney General Michael Mukasey.

While President Donald Trump and his allies have spent recent days arguing that Iran is begging to return to the negotiating table, Iran’s deputy foreign minister said Tuesday that his country has made no requests to restart the diplomatic track in more than two weeks. Following a thwarted attack on the U.S. base in Jordan, Trump turned back to threats Wednesday even while sustaining the prospect of continued talks.
