VIDEO: Fire tears through warehouse in Upper Marlboro

WASHINGTON — Firefighters are continuing to battle a fire that’s tearing through a warehouse in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The fire broke out around 7:30 a.m. at a warehouse on Old Marlboro Pike, near Richie Marlboro Road, according to Prince George’s County Fire officials. The fire has already caused some sections of the building to collapse, although no injuries have been reported. Prince George’s County firefighters, along with the help of firefighters from Montgomery County and D.C., are still on the scene. The warehouse belongs to B&K Rental Co., which provides scaffolding, bleachers and seating for a variety of events, according to Mark Brady, spokesman for the Prince George’s County Fire Department. The White House, the Cherry Blossom Festival and a few area universities are listed as some of the company’s top clients, according to its website.

Officials have not yet said if they know what caused the fire. Below is a map of the warehouse location: [google_map latitude=”38.8134″ longitude=”-76.7877″ zoom=”13″ height=”300px” location_label=”” dynamic_map=”false”]

How a viral tweet helped a Prince George’s Co. baker’s business soar

Taylor Hampton doesn’t yet have a website for her baking business Simply Sweet Treats, but the Largo, Maryland, baker has seen her business soar after one of her recent tweets went viral. Hampton turned to social media about a year ago to advertise a "Moana"-themed cake she crafted, hoping to gain a few new followers and boost sales. A tweet highlighting that cake received a few hundred retweets. She was hoping for the same result when she tweeted an image of cupcakes suggesting “it costs $0.00 to retweet and help me get exposure.” But this time around, the July 26 tweet secured more than 100,000 retweets and more than 120,000 likes and resulted in an influx of orders.
