WASHINGTON – The family of Carol Glover, who died after a train filled with smoke near L’Enfant Plaza in 2015, has settled a $50 million lawsuit against Metro.

The details of the settlement are not public but Metro confirmed an agreement.

Court documents tied to the dozens of lawsuits filed in the wake of the L’Enfant Plaza Yellow Line smoke incident indicate sixteen cases remain outstanding.

Additional settlements in have been reached in recent weeks in a number of cases.

The riders sickened by the smoke and left stranded for about an hour on a train that had just left L’Enfant Plaza toward Virginia had argued Metro was negligent in its maintenance and emergency response.

Glover, 61, died after the electrical arcing incident. There were communications failures during the fire department and Metro response.
