WASHINGTON — Recruiting pamphlets depicting hate propaganda are being distributed in neighborhoods around Northern Virginia.

Flyers for the Ku Klux Klan were found throughout Gainesville and Bristow Sunday morning. The materials were thrown randomly from a vehicle into driveways tied to bags of birdseed to weigh them down, according to Prince William County police.

While police said the pamphlets didn’t contain any threats or target anyone specifically, state Del. Lee Carter (D-Manassas) condemned the message.

“It’s quite clear that when fascists and white supremacists organize, they’re doing it with an end goal in mind, and that goal is ethnic cleansing,” Carter said.

“The most important way to fight back is to get to know the people in your community, get organized and make it perfectly clear that those hateful ideologies will never be welcome here.”

Last Friday, a neo-Nazi group called Patriot Front put flyers on community bulletin boards and gas pumps throughout Manassas.

Police are investigating the incidents.
