WASHINGTON — There are any number of reasons why traffic around the D.C. area is frequently terrible: bad weather, inept drivers and all those pesky motorcades. Add Taylor Swift to the list. Maryland transportation officials say they’re preparing for the crush of Taylor Swift fans who will descend on FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, as the pop sensation plays a two-night stand at the stadium July 10 and July 11. The Maryland State Highway Administration said they will deploy additional troops in the area to assist local police with traffic operations and will suspend all major night-time roadwork in the Landover and Largo area to help ease traffic around the stadium. Swifties heading to the concerts are encouraged to use public transportation or to rideshare.

Local drivers should prepare for heavier-than-usual traffic. So plan ahead and be patient, because it might just feel like you’re riding a new Maserati down a dead-end street.
