WASHINGTON — Lawyers Road in Vienna, Virginia, is closed to all through traffic between Helmwood Court and Gunnell Farms Drive for a pipe replacement project.
The road will be closed through 5 p.m. Friday as crews replace the corrugated metal drainage pipes with concrete ones, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation news release.
All traffic will be detoured to Garrett Street, Trott Avenue, Vale Road and Malcolm Road back to Lawyers Road.
Residents within the closure area and emergency vehicles will have access to the closed portion of the road, but they will not be able to go beyond the point of pipe replacement in either direction.
Lawyers Road is a popular cut-through for travelers between the toll road an Interstate 66. Commuters in the area could take Hunter Mill Road, Beulah Road and Maple Avenue as alternates, but there may be delays.
