WASHINGTON —  Anyone planning to vote absentee in the Maryland primary has to act fast. The deadline to request an absentee ballot that will be mailed back to the board of elections is Tuesday, June 19.

If you applied for an absentee ballot by mail, that request has to be received by 8 p.m. Tuesday. If you are requesting an absentee ballot by fax or online, you have until 11:59 p.m. to do that. In order to do that, you’ll have to have a Maryland driver’s license, MVA ID card or Social Security number.

For anyone who intends to vote absentee online, the request for a ballot has to be received by Friday. In that case, a request sent by mail has to be received by 5 p.m. Friday. If the request is submitted online, that has to be received by 11:59 p.m. Friday.

Early voting is underway at designated centers in each county and Baltimore City, and will continue through Thursday. Voting centers are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The primary is June 26.
