Washington Nationals hosting blood drive Saturday

WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals are teaming up with Inova Blood Donor Services for the annual Washington Nationals Blood Drive. More than 800 donors are already signed up for Saturday’s event, but even if you don’t have an appointment you can still donate.

“The morning is a little full and crazy,” said Heather Wade with Inova Blood Donor Services, “but any time after about 1 o’clock to 5, we will gladly take our walk-ins.”

Nationals fans may find it worth the time and effort to make it to the park.

“Part of your goodies for donating and saving a life … we have T-shirts, we have two tickets for each donor that completes the screening process,” said Wade.

People who donate will be provided a full tour of Nationals Park as well.  “So if you’ve ever wanted to sit in the Nationals’ dugout, you have an opportunity.”

Anyone donating should expect to spend at least an hour at the ballpark, but some donations could take longer. Parking is free inside the Nationals Geico Garage near the center field gate.
