WASHINGTON — The human remains found in Prince William County earlier this week are those of a 16-year-old who had been missing for more than a month.

On Tuesday, Prince William County were preparing to conduct a search for missing 16-year-old Palmer Marsh near Lake Manassas in Nokesville, Virginia, when investigators happened upon decomposed remains. On Thursday, the Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the remains as Marsh.

Marsh was reported missing to police on May 4.

Police said the teen voluntarily left home May 2 after an argument with his parents. Two days later, his family reported him missing, police said.

Police had done multiple land and air searches for the boy before the remains were found.

Marsh’s remains were found about a 10-minute drive from his parents’ house.

Police said no foul play is suspected in his death. A final report from the medical examiner’s office will provide details about the cause and manner of Marsh’s death.
