2 dead following Southwest DC shooting

WASHINGTON — A man and woman are dead following a fatal shooting Saturday night in Southwest D.C.

D.C. police responded to the unit block of Galveston Street shortly after 10 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Police found 40-year-old Jaquon Helm and 35-year-old Venius Badgett suffering from gunshot wounds.

Helm died at the scene. Badgett was transported to an area hospital, where she later died after all lifesaving efforts failed.

D.C. police offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for a homicide in D.C.
