WASHINGTON — A Prince William County school bus driver is charged with striking and killing a man.

Sheli Paugh, 57, of Front Royal, was driving her school bus, with no students in it, a little after 8 a.m. Wednesday in Haymarket, near Old Carolina Road and Piedmont Vista Drive, the police said in a statement Friday.

A landscaping truck was parked on the right travel lane of Old Carolina Road, and three workers were getting ready to work in the area when the bus crashed into the truck, killing Eusebio Castro, 53, of Aldie, who was setting up a sign and wearing a reflective vest, the police said.
The driver of the truck had to be extricated from the vehicle; he and Paugh were taken to a hospital with injuries. A third worker wasn’t hurt.

Paugh turned herself in Friday. She’s been charged with involuntary manslaughter. Bond was set at $7,500; she’s due back in court Aug. 14.
