Woman dead after being struck by car on Reston Parkway

WASHINGTON — A 71-year-old Reston woman is dead after being struck by a car Monday at the intersection of Reston Parkway and Bluemont Way in Virginia.

According to Fairfax County police, she was crossing the road shortly after 11 a.m. when she was struck and killed by a northbound 2016 Hyundai Elantra.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained to cooperate with authorities.

Police don’t yet know if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Authorities are investigating.

Search continues for swimmer who went missing in Potomac River

The search resumed Wednesday for a man who went missing in the Potomac River, near Great Falls, one day ago. A man who was with two swimmers called 911 from the shoreline of the Potomac River, south of Sandy Landing, at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue told WTOP.
