WASHINGTON — Police are searching for a man accused of impersonating a police officer and harassing people at homeless camps in the 8000 block of Sudley Road in Manassas, Virginia.

Around 7 a.m. on Thursday, a homeless woman reported that a 5 foot 6 inch tall Hispanic man entered her tent and told her he was a police officer. He was wearing dark clothing, a portable radio with an orange earpiece attached and a pair of black handcuffs.

The so-called officer tried to handcuff the woman, who resisted and asked to see his credentials.

The man refused and the two struggled briefly before the suspect fled the area on a bicycle.

Police said that investigation revealed that this was not the first time the man had tried to impersonate an officer.

Two other men claimed to have seen the same suspect who identified himself as a police officer to them.

The man is wanted for attempted abduction and impersonating a police officer.
