WASHINGTON — An Upper Marlboro, Maryland, man has been arrested and charged with raping a woman in Gaithersburg in 2010.

30-year-old Davon Gray was arrested May 10 and charged with first-degree rape, armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, the Montgomery County police said in a news release Friday.

The police said someone followed an 18-year-old worker at the Asbury Methodist Village retirement community in Gaithersburg into a women’s bathroom on the morning of Dec. 7, 2010. The suspect grabbed her around the neck, put a gun to her head and robbed her, then raped her, the police said.

Later that day, he was arrested in Germantown and was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun. He pleaded guilty and was given probation before judgment, police spokesman Rick Goodale said Friday.

On May 1 of this year, the Virginia State Police told the Montgomery County crime lab that Gray, whom they had arrested, was a DNA match with the rapist, the statement said.

Gray was arrested May 10 at his home. He’s being held without bond.
