WASHINGTON — Maryland State Police have identified the three people who died in a crash involving a dump truck and an SUV on a Charles County highway Tuesday afternoon.

Police said 44-year-old Theresa Robinson and 45-year-old Arnold Griffin,  both of Waldorf, Maryland, died in the crash. Kayle Bodensteiner, 24, of Baltimore, also died in the crash.

Robinson was driving the Lincoln MKX that collided with the dump truck on Maryland Route 234/Budds Creek Road near the intersection of Penns Hill Road, police said. Griffin was the SUV’s right front-seat passenger, and Bodensteiner was a passenger in the SUV’s backseat.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Two other back seat passengers in the SUV were also injured in the crash and airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Police did not provide details on the extent of their injuries.

The driver and a passenger of the dump truck were also taken to a hospital with injuries.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday when witnesses said the SUV, which was traveling southbound on Penns Hill Road, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the dump truck, which was traveling eastbound on Md. 234.
