WASHINGTON — A woman is in custody Friday after police said she chased a juvenile around a home in Laurel, Maryland, with a knife. Officers who arrived at the scene also found that the front door was barricaded.

Rosby Taylor, 24, of Beltsville, Maryland, was arrested after a five-hour standoff in the area of the 14700 block of Phillip Court in Laurel. Officers first responded to a domestic disturbance there around 9:30 a.m. Friday, Laurel police said.

When police arrived, they were told that a woman had chased a juvenile around the house with a knife. The juvenile was uninjured, police said, and was able to leave the house with other family members before officers came.

Police said officers found the front windows covered and the front entrance barricaded. They also could not make successful contact with Taylor inside, which led to the barricade being declared, police said.

Four nearby residences were evacuated for safety precautions, police said. Law enforcement officials tried to get in contact with Taylor inside through bullhorn requests, phone calls and social media messages but were unsuccessful.

By Friday afternoon, police were able to enter the residence and arrest Taylor without incident. No injuries were reported, police said.

Taylor was taken to a hospital as a precaution. She now faces multiple assault charges, including one count of first-degree assault.
