Revelers gather for a spring day snowball fight at the National Mall

WASHINGTON — On the first, full day of spring, a group of people gathered on the National Mall for a snowball fight.

Dubbed “Toby or Not Toby,” for the winter storm, the Washington, D.C. Snowball Fight Association organized the event through Facebook. As the federal government and most school systems closed Wednesday, the event invited those affected by the closings to come down at 4:30 p.m. for a snowball battle.

Here are some scenes from the event.
