WASHINGTON — Maryland Sen. H. Wayne Norman Jr., who represented Harford and Cecil counties, died suddenly on Sunday. He was 62. A life-long resident of Maryland, Norman attended college and law school in Baltimore, eventually opening his own law firm and maintaining it even as a public official. Along with his wife of 37 years, Norman raised two children in Harford County, Md. Norman was a first-term Republican. He was elected to the state senate in 2014 and had previously served in the House of Delegates since 2008. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted his condolences, saying “Senator Norman devoted decades of his life to serving his constituents in Harford and Cecil Counties, first at the local level, and then as a Delegate and Senator.”

“He was my seat mate in committee and brought a lot of knowledge and excitement to Annapolis,” Brochin said in a Facebook post. “Rest in peace buddy.” Details regarding Norman’s death were not immediately available.
