WASHINGTON — Fairfax County detectives have parts from the car involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a woman and her 12-year-old daughter over the weekend.
On Tuesday, police released photos of the parts found at the scene of the Falls Church crash: a side-view mirror from the passenger side of a Mercedes sedan and the lower front grille.
Police said the parts were left behind after the driver hit two pedestrians — a mother and her 12-year-old daughter — attempting to cross Columbia Pike near Tyler Street in the Bailey’s Crossroads area of Fairfax County on a dark and rainy Saturday night. They were in a marked crosswalk, police said.
The driver fled the scene after the collision, police said.
Both the mother and child were taken the hospital; the mom was treated for minor injuries and released while the girl is expected to make a full recovery, according to police.
After consulting with Mercedes about the parts, police said the vehicle is likely a dark blue C-class sedan manufactured between 2012 and 2015.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash, car or driver involved to call 703-280-0543. Also, they are asking staff at auto body shops to be on the lookout for any customers bringing in similar Mercedes sedans for repair.
