5 hospitalized after tractor-trailer crashes into St. Mary’s Co. house

WASHINGTON — Five people, including two children, were transported to nearby hospitals after a tractor-trailer crashed into a Mechanicsville, Maryland, house Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. at Budds Creek Road near the roundabout in Clements, resulting in the closure of Budds Creek Road between Colton Point Road and Bayside Road, according to St. Mary’s County police.

Budds Creek Road reopened around 10:30 a.m.

Four people were home when the truck crashed into it.

The children were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital as a precaution, St. Mary’s County police said. One occupant of the house was transported to the Prince George’s County Trauma Center with potentially serious injuries.

The residents and the driver had to be taken to hospitals in ground transport due to the dense fog in the area, police said.
