1 DC restaurant achieves AAA Five Diamond rating

WASHINGTON D.C.’s Pineapple and Pearls is one of eight restaurants in the U.S, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean to join AAA’s list of Five Diamond restaurants for 2018.

The only other restaurant in the area with the same distinction is The Inn at Little Washington, which has maintained its Five Diamond status since 1988.

Chef Aaron Silverman opened Pineapple and Pearls in 2016 next to his highly acclaimed restaurant, Rose’s Luxury. The tasting menu-only format serves guests approximately 12 courses, paired with beverages, for a flat rate of $280 per person (set to rise to $325 in April).

In 2016, Pineapple and Pearls was one of three restaurants to receive two stars in the city’s first ever Michelin Guide. It held onto the coveted rating in the 2017 Guide.

There are 68 restaurants, total, that have received Five Diamonds from AAA — roughly 0.2 percent of the more than 31,000 AAA-inspected and approved restaurants.

Local restaurants Bourbon Steak, Komi, Marcel’s, minibar by Jose Andres, Restaurant Eve, 2941 Restaurant, and L’Auberge Chez François all have Four Diamond status.
