Redskins’ LaVar Arrington set to coach high school football

WASHINGTON — Former Washington Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington is set to coach a high school football team in California. Maranatha High School — a private Christian school in Pasadena, California — announced the pick Monday, naming Arrington as the new head football coach. “Coach Arrington comes to Maranatha with a strong passion for the game along with a gift and enthusiasm for teaching fundamentals of the sport to young players,” the school said in a statement. Arrington played college football at Penn State and went No. 2 overall in the 2000 NFL Draft. He played with Washington from 2000-2005, and is a three-time Pro Bowler. He was also with the New York Giants for a season.
