WASHINGTON — Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots fans along Connecticut Avenue in Northwest D.C. were hopeful about Sunday’s big game.
At Cleveland Park Bar and Grill, Pats fans predicted a strong finish.
“As has been true in previous years, I think they’re going to be a second-half team tonight,” said a fan who declined to give his name. “Go Pats!”
An Eagles fan sitting close by said even though she is somewhat skeptical, she is still a die-hard fan. “You know, we’ve never won before. I think it’s our time. The Patriots — it’s about time for the Brady era to end.”
A few doors down at Fat Pete’s Barbecue, the upstairs level was like a Patriots palace.
“When we win, it’s gonna be shots and beers and cheers,” said Christian, who tells WTOP he has been a Patriots fan for most of his life.
And back at Cleveland Park Bar and Grill, an Eagles fan named Chip said Sunday’s loyalty is temporary. He usually cheers for the Washington Redskins, with the Seattle Seahawks as a backup.
He thinks it’ll be “a close game,” and believes the Patriots might take the win home.
