WASHINGTON — D.C. police say they believe the teenager who was shot in the head near Gallaudet University Thursday was a victim of a domestic dispute.
Around 3 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to an apartment a block south of New York Avenue in Northeast D.C. near Gallaudet University and found a 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the head.
She was transported to a hospital in what D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham called “very, very serious condition,” and on Friday was listed in critical condition.
On Friday evening, police said they are searching for a vehicle of interest in the case. The vehicle is described as a 2017 white Kia Sorento SUV with a Maryland tag of 1DD2833.
The vehicle may have front-end damage, police said.
There have been no arrests or charges in the shooting, which was partially caught on cellphone video.
Police continue to investigate the shooting.
