WASHINGTON — A Prince William County man turned himself in to police after a teenage girl said she was being filmed in a fitting room at the Fair Oaks Mall earlier this month.
On Jan. 7, a 13-year-old girl was trying on clothes in the fitting room of the Hollister at the mall when she heard a noise and in the neighboring stall. She told police she looked down and saw a cellphone that appeared to be filming her while she changed.
Several days later, Fairfax County police released surveillance images of a man wanted for questioning in the case.
Rudolph Doering, a 50-year-old man from Bristow, saw the images of himself from TV reporting about the case and turned himself in to police on Jan. 14. Doering, a D.C. Fire and EMS captain, has been placed on leave, NBC Washington reported.
Police obtained a warrant Friday to charge Doering with one count of attempted unlawful filming of a minor. He turned himself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center shortly after.
