On Jan. 11, several students told John Hanson Middle School officials that there was a substitute teacher who was having inappropriate communication with a student.

Charles County police learned that Keith Allan Krikstan, 30, of Waldorf, got the mobile number of a female student in December and began texting her. Krikstan contacted her via FaceTime and social media, as well.

Police said that Krikstan convinced the girl to send him explicit photos, and he sent some back to her. Police served Krikstan with a search warrant and recovered phones and computers.

Krikstan was removed from the school. He has been charged with child pornography, displaying explicit materials to a minor and sexual abuse.

On Jan. 5, former Charles County teacher’s aide and track coach Carlos Deangelo Bell pleaded guilty to 27 counts of sexual abuse and exploitation of dozens of children. Bell was working at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School.

Last November, St. Charles County high school teacher LaToya Niccole Parker, 40, was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor.
