WASHINGTON — D.C.’s Department of Human Services will activate its Hypothermia Alert for Sunday night starting at 7 p.m.

According to DHS’s website, when the temperatures fall below 32 degrees between Nov. 1 and March 31, all people experiencing homelessness must be housed.

Anyone who sees someone in need of shelter from the cold should call the 24-hour shelter hotline at 202-399-7093 or 311.

Families in need of emergency shelter can go to the Virginia Williams Family Resource Center at 920-A Rhode Island Avenue, in Northeast D.C. After 4 p.m. on Fridays and weekends, families should call the shelter hotline to be transported to the D.C. General Family Shelter.

Single adult hypothermia beds will be available from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. in seasonal shelters, which opened on Nov. 1. They remain open everyday through March this season.
