Police shoot armed man in Bladensburg

WASHINGTON — A man is in critical condition after he was shot by a police officer Sunday in Prince George’s County. It happened just before 9 p.m. on Newton Street near 52nd Avenue in Bladensburg. Police say they received calls of a man with a gun in the area. When officers arrived, they encountered the man and shots were fired soon after. The suspect was shot in the lower body and taken to a hospital in critical condition.
