DC man charged with assaulting Md. woman in her home

WASHINGTON — A D.C. man is facing several charges after police said he forced his way into a home in Camp Springs Saturday.

Prince George’s County police said Khary Edwards, 23, of Southeast D.C., forced his way into a home on Oakland Way Saturday morning, assaulted a woman who lived there, tried to sexually assault her and stole several items.

They said he ran out of the house when police arrived, and ran naked down away from the house. An officer lost sight of Edwards on Auth Road, but saw him later on the same road — wearing clothes this time — and arrested him after another chase.

Edwards is charged with attempted murder, attempted rape robbery and other charges. He’s being held without bond. The police said he and the woman don’t know each other.
