Man dead after being hit by car in Seat Pleasant

WASHINGTON — A man is dead after being hit by a car in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, Friday around 7:30 p.m.

He has been identified as Wayne Tonio Davis, a 63-year-old from Suitland. The incident occurred on Route 214, near Yost Place.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Davis remained at the scene but a second vehicle, which struck the first, fled. According to a statement released on Saturday, police are searching for the driver of the second vehicle.

The vehicle is described as a sedan, possibly a Buick, that may have front-end damage. Police urge anyone with information to call 301-731-4422.

At a launch event on campus, the Isaiah Lee Hazel Foundation awarded its first Isaiah Lee Hazel Memorial Scholarship to walk-on defensive lineman Joshua Simmons to help cover meal expenses during the school year.
