WASHINGTON — A counter-protester who was photographed using a spray paint can as a flamethrower at the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville was arrested Friday.
According to Charlottesville police, Corey Long, 23, of Culpeper, Virginia, was arrested for assault and battery and disorderly conduct in relation to events of the white supremacist rally on Aug. 12.
Police say that Long turned himself in, “was taken before the magistrate and was released on an unsecured bond.”
According to an interview with Long published in The Root, an online African-American culture magazine, Long helped Deandre Harris while white supremacists assaulted him in a parking garage.
Harris turned himself into police Thursday on an arrest warrant for unlawful wounding; the complaint against Harris was filed by the chairman of a white nationalist group.
