Man dies in Springfield crash; Backlick Road reopens

WASHINGTON — One man is dead after a motorcycle and tractor trailer collided in Springfield, causing major traffic delays through the Tuesday evening commute.

Fairfax County police say the motorcycle and tractor trailer crashed around 1 p.m. on Backlick Road. The crash closed Backlick Road in both directions between Barta Road and Fullerton Road for several hours. All lanes reopened around 5:45 p.m.

Officials have not released any additional details about the crash at this time, including which party died.

Super Pet Expo offers its first in-person event in Virginia since pandemic began

A Virginia pet expo running through Sunday is hoping to help those who recently got new pets to find what they need. Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
