NEW CARROLLTON, Md. — Orange Line passengers are facing a new set of delays during their Monday morning commutes.

Trains are single-tracking between New Carrollton and Cheverly stations, reducing service on the eastern end of the Orange Line.

Impacted stations include: New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood and Minnesota Avenue. At these stations, trains will run about every 16 minutes, rather than every eight minutes.

Customers who normally drive to Metro stations on the eastern end of the line are encouraged to use Largo Town Center or Morgan Boulevard stations on the Blue/Silver lines as starting points.

In a statement, Metro says service between Vienna and Stadium-Armory should be relatively normal.

The problem was caused by mechanical issues during weekend construction, as crews work to pour new concrete pads under the rails.

Metro crews and contractors will need extra time to pour concrete and allow it to cure before reinstalling the rails on which trains operate.

The ride back home should be better.

Metro expects normal Orange Line service to resume by the afternoon rush hour.
