Police: Seat Pleasant police chief injured in motorcycle crash

WASHINGTON — A local police chief is in the hospital after a motorcycle crash Thursday night in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Seat Pleasant Police Chief Devan Martin was riding his department-issued motorcycle when he collided with another vehicle, said Prince George’s County Police Chief Hank Stawinski. The crash happened on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway.

Martin was wearing proper motorcycle attire, according to Stawinski, and has injuries that are not life-threatening.

“Chief Martin is recovering,” Stawinski said.

“I want to thank the citizens who stopped to help the chief, immediately began to render aid,” he added.

Martin’s family is with him at the hospital, where he is stable and conscious, Stawinski said.
