WASHINGTON — A high school student is facing charges after officials say he made threats on social media toward a Loudoun County high school last week.

A 16-year-old made threats to Dominion High School in Sterling, Virginia, last week using social media, said Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say they found guns in the teenager’s home that belonged to a relative, but determined there was no threat to the school.

On May 2, officials said they connected the social media threats to the teen.

The 16-year-old — who’s not being identified because of his age — was charged Wednesday with making threats by writing or electronic message to kill or do harm.

He is being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.
