Va. man, 86, charged in fatal attack at assisted living facility

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — An 86-year-old resident at an assisted living facility in Virginia has been charged with fatally injuring a 92-year-old woman who also lived there.

Media outlets report that Chesterfield County police say Edward Huff was arrested last week and charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Delora Arnold.

Huff is accused of assaulting Arnold inside her room at Elmcroft of Chesterfield in Richmond on Oct. 27. She was taken to a hospital, where she died two days later of her injuries.

Police have not released a motive for the assault that led to Arnold’s death.

The state medical examiner’s office has ruled the death a homicide from blunt force trauma to the neck and chest.

It’s not immediately clear whether Huff has an attorney.
