Man charged in shooting death of DC security guard

WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police have arrested a man in the fatal shooting of an on-duty security guard in September.

Officers say on Tuesday, they arrested Dewayne Chatman, 30, of Southeast D.C.

The department said in a news release that on Sept. 8, 29-year-old Evan Williams of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was found shot in his car near a fire station in Southeast D.C.

Police say he died two hours later at a hospital.

Chatman has been charged with first-degree murder in Williams’ death.
