Police locate missing Loudoun Co. girl

UPDATE: The 15-year-old reported missing from the Lansdowne area was located safe today in Mexico, police said Monday.

WASHINGTON — The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a missing 15-year-old girl.

The girl, Remedios Munoz-Nava, was last seen Oct. 11 at her home on the 43600 block of Jernigan Terrace in the Lansdowne area, according to a news release. She was reported missing Oct. 13.

Munoz-Nava is 5-foot-2 and 130 pounds, the release said. She is Hispanic with brown eyes, long black hair and a medium complexion.

Munoz-Nava also has ties to the Winchester, Virginia area, the news release said.

Many people don't realize Loudoun County, Virginia, has 300 miles of unpaved roads until their car's navigation system takes them from a busy commuter route onto an unexpected gravel road. Preservation Virginia — a privately-funded, statewide historical preservation group — has added Loudoun County's rural road network to its "2020 Virginia's Most Endangered Historic Places" list.
