Police: Man shot in downtown Silver Spring hotel

WASHINGTON — A shooting occurred Saturday morning inside a downtown Silver Spring hotel, Montgomery County police said.

A man shot another man in a confrontation at the Double Tree Hotel at 8727 Colesville Road, Capt. Paul Starks said. Police were called to the hotel around 11:30 a.m. The wounded man was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries Saturday.

It is believed that the shooting victim went to the hotel to have sex with a woman he had met the night before when he was shot by another man who was in the room with the woman, Starks said.

The incident is under investigation and police are looking for the suspected gunman.
