Premature baby in critical condition after mother attacked, stabbed

WASHINGTON — A premature baby is in critical condition after her mother was attacked on a Kensington, Maryland, walking trail and doctors were forced to perform an emergency C-section.

After having consensual sex with the 19-year-old mother Thursday, the baby’s father strangled her until she fell unconscious and stabbed her multiple times with a kitchen knife, according to charging documents.

The victim identified the baby’s father, 18-year-old Dakota Brothers as her attacker. She is now listed in good condition.

The documents say Brothers told police he wasn’t ready to be a father. He is charged with attempted first degree murder and first degree assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 30.
