Marine Corps Marathon to make ‘significant changes’ due to Metro 24/7 track work

WASHINGTON — With Metro no longer opening early for any reason, the Marine Corps Marathon is set to make a “significant announcement” later this week.

Marathon organizers say Metro’s track work will lead to “an alteration for MCM events this year,” since Metro has traditionally been the way most runners and fans get to the race.

The Marathon plans to unveil “its 2016 courses, new event timeline and robust transportation plan for the thousands of runners” on Wednesday.

The marathon is Sunday, Oct. 30.
