​Here’s where D.C.’s next Shake Shack is going (Hint: It’s pretty close to another one)

Uber-popular burger chain Shake Shack is continuing its quest for D.C. burger domination, with a new location planned for the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood.

Shake Shack has signed a lease for a 2,800-square-foot space at 50 M St. SE, across from the Half Street entrance to the Navy Yard-Ballpark station on Metro’s Green Line and the main walkway into Nationals Park.

Coincidentally, it’s also exceedingly close to another Shake Shack — the one inside the baseball stadium. The Nationals Park location is only open to ticket holders, however, which has left neighborhood residents and workers out of Shack luck when they aren’t attending a game.

The Capitol Riverfront location, which will be located on the ground floor of the Homewood Suites building under construction at Half and M streets SE, will open sometime in 2017. It will be the fifth Shake Shack in the District.
