Va. man, 72, identified as BW Parkway crash victim

WASHINGTON — The man who died after he was struck by a car while mowing along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway has been identified as a 72-year-old Annandale, Virginia, man, police announced Thursday.

Joseph Benjamin Edmonds worked for Davey Commercial Landscape Service, which was a contractor for the National Park Service.

He had been mowing a median strip when a car traveling northbound on the parkway near Route 410 in Riverdale, Maryland, struck him at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. Edmonds suffered critical injuries and died at a hospital in Prince George’s County later that night.

U.S. Park Police continue to investigate the causes surrounding the crash.
