Storms knock out power across region

WASHINGTON — The storms that have rolled through the D.C. area Monday afternoon have knocked out power to customers across the region.

As of midnight, the following power companies reported outages:

Dominion Virginia Power reported more than 800 customers were still without electricity in Northern Virginia, down from more than 2,000 earlier in the day.

PEPCO said the number of customers without electricity is less than 50. Earlier in the day, as many as 5,000 customers were without power.

BGE was down to about 15 customers out in Anne Arundel County.
